An apparatus and a method for forming an image of a record list are provided to allow a user to intuitively perceive a broadcast program recorded in the image of the record list, thereby being capable of conveniently watching the broadcast program. A decoder(110) decodes EPG(Electronic Program Guide) data included in a DMB(Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) carrier. A data base(120) stores channel information included in the decoded EPG data and broadcast program representative image information. A representative image information reader(130) reads the broadcast program representative image information from the data base. A representative image extractor(140) extracts the broadcast program representative image information from an MOT(Multimedia Object Transform) object of the decoded EPG data by using the read broadcast program representative image information. A channel manager(160) matches the stored channel information to the extracted broadcast program representative image information. A PVR(Personal Video Recorder)(170) receives the matched channel information and the broadcast program representative image information, and outputs the broadcast program representative image information matched to channel information of a program to be recorded. A GUI(Graphic User Interface) unit(200) receives the broadcast program representative image information from the PVR manager, and converts the broadcast program representative image information in specific size and type to form the image of a record list.
