A mobile communication terminal and a method for controlling signal reception through a diversity path are provided to minimize the interference between a signal received through a main path and a signal received through a diversity path while improving the reception performance due to the signal reception through the diversity path in wireless communication. A signal level detecting module(100) detects the level of a signal received through a main path among received signals under a communication environment with multiple paths including the main path and a diversity path. An electric field level comparator(200) receives the level of the signal through the main path to compare the signal level with a predetermined reference electric field level. A diversity controller(300) controls signal reception through the diversity path according to the comparison of the electric field level comparator.
