An image processing method and an image processing device are provided to promote user convenience, and reduce waste of supplies such as a printing paper, toner, and ink. A user interface(201) enables a user to set up a border option forming a border to an effective image excluding background from an image. A controller(205) detects the effective image from the image and processes the detected effective image according to the set border option. The border option includes a distance for forming the border separated from the effective image.
