A method for controlling overheating prevention of a microwave oven is provided to improve convenience of usage by preventing an output level from being lowered due to repeated operations of the microwave oven by determining repeated operations in a short period as one operation. A method for controlling overheating prevention of a microwave oven includes the steps of: changing an output level and counting the number of operations if a pause time is within a predetermined time and an accumulated operation time is larger than a first predetermined time(S14); changing the output level if the counted number of operations is larger than a predetermined number; and determining as a consecutive operation without counting the number of operations if the pause time is within a second predetermined time(S20). The second predetermined time is twenty seconds. The number of operations is initialized when the pause time is over the first predetermined time. |
