<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the number of racket models while providing a wide range of playing characteristics in a sports racket. <P>SOLUTION: The sides of the sports racket, and optionally the tip and throat bridge, include axially extending cutout portions. An insert member, having a plurality of string port holes and optionally conventional string holes, is seated in each cutout portion.
