<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi roll mill which is provided with both functions of edge drop control and shape control and a method of controlling the multi roll mill. <P>SOLUTION: In the multi roll mill R provided with first intermediate rolls 12a, 12b to work rolls 11a, 11b, a comparatively gentle taper is formed for controlling the shape in the end part of one side of the first intermediate roll 12a, 12b and a comparatively steep taper is formed for controlling the edge drop in the other end. These intermediate rolls 12a, 12b are arranged so that the tapers are alternated up and down and, further, they are made shiftable in the axial direction. As for edge drop control, the first intermediate rolls 12a, 12b are shifted before starting rolling so that the tapers for controlling the edge drop are situated in the position of the end of the sheet of the material 1 to be rolled. As for the shape control, the first intermediate rolls 12a, 12b are shifted similarly before starting the rolling so that the tapers for controlling the shape are situated in the position of the end of the sheet. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
