<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To guarantee desired operation by suppressing temperature rises in an auxiliary power device and its circumference and to reduce noise and power consumption resulting from unnecessary driving of a cooling fan not during charging. <P>SOLUTION: The auxiliary power device includes a charger 1 which rectifies commercial AC power to charge a capacitor 3, a control section 2 which determines whether the capacitor is being charged, the capacitor 3 as an auxiliary power supply charged by the charger 1, the fan 5 which suppresses a rise in temperature of electronic equipment in which the auxiliary power device is built, and a switch element 4 which applies the voltage of the capacitor 3 to the fan 5. The control section 2 determines whether the charger 1 is charging the capacitor 3 by monitoring the output current or output voltage of the charger 1 or the terminal voltage across the capacitor 3, and rotates the fan 5 when the capacitor is being charged by controlling the switch element 4 so that the capacitor voltage is applied to the fan 5, thereby cooling the auxiliary power device and electronic equipment. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
