PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust gas purification catalyst which is capable of suppressing the deterioration of catalyst performance in the exhaust gas purification catalyst containing rhodium excellent in low-temperature performance as a catalyst and an oxygen storage/release material as a promoter, due to the oxidization of rhodium.

SOLUTION: The exhaust gas purification catalyst which has a noble metal particle 4 containing at least rhodium particles, an oxygen storage/release material particle 1 and a carrier oxide 2 having the noble metal particle 4 carried by the surface separated from the oxygen storage/release material particle 1 between the noble metal particle 4 and the oxygen storage/release material particle 1.
