PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a platen roller holding structure which can prevent distortion deformation because of a load when a plurality of thermal heads come in pressure contact with a platen roller in a thermal transfer printer in which the plurality of thermal heads come in and out of contact with the one platen roller. SOLUTION: The platen roller holding structure has a plurality of projecting parts 5 formed at peripheral edge parts of a pair of bearing plates 4 and 4 which respectively rotatably hold a rotary shaft 2a of the platen roller 2 at both ends of the rotary shaft 2a. The projecting parts 5 project outward to mutually opposed sites in both bearing plates 4 and 4. The respective projecting parts 5 opposed to each other in both bearing plates 4 and 4 are coupled by a coupling member 6 with an interval set between the platen roller 2 and the parts.
