PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous coating material which gives coating film properties excellent in gloss, corrosion resistance and weather resistance even by drying at room temperature, and has been obtained through finding an aqueous dispersion having excellent compatibility and stability. SOLUTION: The aqueous dispersion having 0.01-0.5μm average particle diameter is prepared by dispersing an acrylic-modified epoxy resin (A1) having 5-150 mg KOH/g acid value into an aqueous medium. The acrylic-modified epoxy resin is obtained by radically polymerizing 10-50 pts.mass of a radically polymerizable unsaturated monomer (b) in the presence of 50-90 pts.mass of an epoxy resin (a), wherein the epoxy resin (a) with 2,000-50,000 epoxy equivalent, and the radically polymerizable unsaturated monomer (b) are totally 100 pts.mass.
