PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide "an imaging apparatus and a vehicle peripheral image providing apparatus" capable of imaging a part near an imaging position even at nighttime and contributing to dissolving the feeling of incompatibility (improving color reproducibility) when viewing images in the daytime for a part away from the imaging position. SOLUTION: In the imaging apparatus 11 for which an infrared ray cut member 33 is inserted between a lens 31 and an imaging device 32 included in an optical imaging system 30 and which is provided with a function of acquiring peripheral images by selectively using infrared ray illumination, a part CT to which infrared ray (IR) cut coating is applied and a part CN to which it is not applied are selectively provided according to a distance from the imaging position on the infrared ray cut member 33.
