摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for an internal combustion engine, preventing a driver or the like from feeling a torque shock caused by abrupt change in output axis torque in switching of operating methods. SOLUTION: This control device is applied to the internal combustion engine whose operating method can be switched between a first operating method and a second operating method. The control device determines an operating method based on request output axis torque determined on the basis of an operational status (S225), and estimates loss torque based on the determined operating method (S230 and S255). The control device adds the estimated loss torque to the determined request output axis torque so as to determine target illustrated torque (S235 and S260), and determines controlled variables so that a force corresponding to the target illustrated torque determined by the combustion of fuel mixture (S240 and S265) is exerted on a piston.
