<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which enables an image output operation to be simplified without needing to send out image data again at turning on the power of the apparatus after filling up color material while being able to certainly meet the demands of users diversified and developed. <P>SOLUTION: The residual quantity of color material detected by a color-material residual quantity detection means 6 and the forecasted consumption of color material computed by a color-material forecasting consumption calculation means 7 are compared by the image forming apparatus 1. When either one of the color materials is judged to be possibly insufficient during outputting an image, a plurality of alternatives of image output mode are indicated by an image output mode alternative indication means 9. The alternative includes the image output mode for outputting the image in the state that the consumption of color material judged to be possibly insufficient during outputting the image is made less than usual one, instead of it, the consumption of toner of the other color judged not to be possibly insufficient is made more than usual one. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
