PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent adhesion of slurry on the side of a carrier by accurately controlling the position of a slurry surface when carrying catalyst components on the carrier. SOLUTION: When a liquid material containing catalytically active components is introduced into a honeycomb monolith carrier from the bottom end of the carrier, surface level detection in the top part of the carrier is carried out by using an image processing sensor.
