LIGHTING DEVICE AND ILLUMINATION DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting device and an illumination device which can estimate a lifetime or degradation in luminescence of an organic EL element.

SOLUTION: An illumination device consists of an organic EL element 1 served as a light emitting section and a lighting device which supplies the drive voltage to the organic EL element 1. The lighting device comprises a voltage applying means 2 for applying the square wave voltage with alternately inverting polarity to the organic EL element 1 and a detection means 3 for detecting the equivalent capacitance inherent in the organic EL element 1, detecting the equivalent capacitance from a peak value of an inrush current flowing through the organic EL element 1.
