PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric power steering device with a variable gear ratio mechanism capable of providing an excellent steering feeling by reducing a sense of incongruity and a frictional feeling by imparting a sufficient steering wheel return regardless of the action such as friction, a viscous item of oil and an inertial item even if the gear ratio is changed. SOLUTION: This electric power steering device has a steering torque sensor 12, a gear ratio sensor 13, a steering speed sensor 14, a vehicle speed sensor 16, a control means 17, a gear ratio control means 40 and an electric motor driving means 18.
