PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for production of liquid absorptive resin fine particles which exhibits excellent absorbability even for highly concentrated salt solutions such as sea water and a calcium chloride deliquescence aqueous solution, is free from the mutual coagulation of primary particles, has a very narrow particle size distribution and can be controlled to have a median particle size based on the volume in a range of 0.5-50μm. SOLUTION: The process for production of the liquid absorptive resin comprises mixing an aqueous solution containing an ethylenic unsaturated monomer having a sulfonic acid group or its alkyl metal salt and a radical polymerization initiator using a dispersing device, and a hydrophobic organic solvent containing a surfactant dissolved therein, to thereby disperse the aqueous solution in the hydrophobic organic solvent, and then effecting a reverse phase suspension polymerization by the gradual supply of the dispersed solution into a polymerization apparatus, wherein the particle diameter of the liquid-absorptive resin is controlled by adjusting the conditions for the mixing and dispersion.
