PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an active energy-curable aqueous undercoat composition which is excellent in adhesion to synthetic resins, surface smoothness and heat resistance and used for forming mirror finished surfaces on synthetic resin molding surfaces by vapor deposition. SOLUTION: The active energy-curable aqueous undercoat composition contains (A) a water-soluble or water-dispersible acrylic copolymer with a copolymerization ratio of a straight chain or branched alkyl (meth)acrylate monomer of 10-40%, a glass transition point of 0-90°C and a solid acid value of 10-100, (B) a compound having one or more radically polymerizable unsaturated bond in the molecule and is dilutable with water.
