<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an on-screen display device capable of automatically setting an on-screen display position. <P>SOLUTION: For all pixels of an image on a screen position on which an on-screen image is to be superposed, an analysis part 12 regards RGB data per pixel as a vector to calculate the length of the vector and takes all calculated lengths of vectors as an entire event to calculate a standard deviation and determines the display position of the on-screen image on the basis of the standard deviation.
