<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect the remaining amount of toner with simple and inexpensive constitution without a light emitting element and a light receiving element nor a toner cartridge with a window, a lens, etc., for guiding light. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is equipped with the toner cartridge freely loaded in and unloaded from a printer body, a radio tag provided to the toner cartridge, a communication unit configured to communicate with the radio tag, a communication output detection unit 71 which detects the intensity of radio communication between the communication unit and radio tag, and a remaining toner amount calculation unit 73 which calculates the amount of toner in a toner storage body from a difference in communication intensity detected by the communication output detection unit 71. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
