An electronic component (10) includes a support element (11), having a first mounting plane (11) with which the support element (11) can be mechanically and/or electrically contacted on a carrier, especially a circuit board and a second mounting plane (13) which carries an acceleration sensor (20) having a sensing plane (21) mutually parallel to the second mounting plane (13). The first and second mounting planes (12,13) are arranged obliquely to one another. An independent claim is included for an electronic control device for use in a motor vehicle.
