<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite resin having excellent abrasion resistance, low refractive index and high antireflection property, a coating composition containing the composite resin and an article coated therewith. <P>SOLUTION: The composite resin is composed of an integrated product of (1) inorganic oxide fine particles (A) having porous texture and/or containing voids in the particle and a hydrolyzed/condensed product of an organic silicon compound (2) containing a bissilane compound (B), and is produced by the hydrolysis/condensation of the component (2) in the presence of the component (1). The bissilane compound is expressed by formula X<SB>n</SB>R<SB>3-n</SB>Si-Y-SiR<SB>3-n</SB>X<SB>n</SB>(B): (Y is a bivalent organic group which may be substituted with fluorine atom or a bivalent organic group which may contain an aromatic ring; R is a univalent organic group; X is OH or a hydrolyzable group; and n is 1, 2 or 3). The composite resin contains voids in the resin owing to the presence of the inorganic oxide fine particles having porous texture and/or containing voids in the particle.
