PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intercom system using a home use television broadcast receiver, and applying a correspondence instruction to a visitor by the television broadcast receiver. SOLUTION: The television receiver (television broadcast receiver) 100 is provided with: a transmission/reception section 107 for transmitting/receiving a signal to/from a intercom instrument; a storage section 104 for storing a reply as text data; and a voice synthesis processing section 108 for converting the text data into a voice signal, the television receiver 100 transmits the voice signal on the basis of reply information (e.g. "Please come in!" or the like) selected by the television receiver 100 to the intercom instrument, a intercom slave unit installed in an entrance of a house outputs the voice signal.
