PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flying cutting method of a trimmer for surely making a trimmer round blade cut the end edge of a metallic strip also at the time of high speed sheet passing. SOLUTION: The trimmer round blade 2 set with a prescribed toe-in angleαin the traveling direction of the metallic strip such as a steel strip 1 is made to cut the end edge of the traveling metallic strip. A cutting angleβis determined by the traveling speed V1 of the metallic strip and the cutting speed of the trimmer round blade 2. The trimmer round blade 2 is moved at cutting speed so that a toe-in angleα-βof the trimmer round blade 2 in relation to the cutting angleβmay be maintained in a range of +0.08 to 0.115°. It is desirable that the cutting peripheral speed of the trimmer round blade 2 is increased by 30 to 50 mpm as compared with the traveling speed V1 of the metallic strip. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
