PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To speedily and securely attach an outer shell 10 in a chair with the outer shell 10 directly attached to a backrest unit which is capable of directly supporting the body of a seated person. SOLUTION: The outer shell 10 is attached to the backrest unit with a first fitting means consisting of a combination of a back support part 18c with a pin-shaped auxiliary member 28 and an attaching hole 29, a second fitting means consisting of a combination of a grasping part 33 with a downward opening and a horizontal shaft part 18a, and an engagement part 36 with a stepped part 36a. The posture of the outer shell 10 is retained by fitting of the auxiliary member 28 and the attaching hole 29, and by pressing the outer shell 10 downward in this state, the grasping part 33 and the horizontal shaft part 18a are engaged with each other and the rear lower end edge 17a of a case 17 is hooked and engaged with the stepped part 36a.
