<p>1334711 Polylactone coated titanium dioxide LAPORTE INDUSTRIES Ltd 19 April 1971 [13 March 1970] 12300/70 Heading C3R [Also in Division C1] A composition comprises 0À1-60% by wt. of polylactone and TiO 2 . The polylactone may have the formula R[(-O-CO-R<SP>1</SP>-) n -OH] p and be produced by reacting the lactone -O-CO-R<SP>1</SP>- with the polyol R(OH) p in the presence of a catalyst. n may be 2-300 and p may be 2-8. R is an aliphatic hydrocarbon group, saturated or unsaturated, which may have a heteroatom, e.g. oxygen, in the carbon chain. R<SP>1</SP> is an aliphatic hydrocarbon group having a straight chain of 4-12 C atoms which may be substituted with one or more alkyl groups, e.g. methyl. Suitable lactones, polyols, and catalysts are listed. In Example 3, TiO 2 is treated with 28%, 38%, and 49% of a polycaprolactone of M.Wt. 8000.</p> |
