<p>1334257 Potentiometers BUNKER RAMO CORP 19 Oct 1971 [16 Nov 1970] 54490/70 Heading HIS A potentiometer comprises an arcuate resistance element 23 (e.g. wire wound or metallized film or conductive plastics) supported on a disc 44 and engaged by a contact 31 resiliently mounted on a hollow knob 10a which is rotatable relative to the disc to vary the resistance. Disc 44 and a threaded metal bush 22 having an integral flange 41 are supported on a hollow insulating sleeve 21 through which the lead-in conductors 18, 19 (not shown), 20 extend for connection to the contact 31 and the resistance element 23. Knob 10a has an inner shell 10b provided with a flange 46 which is trapped between the disc 44 and the flange 41 by an 0- ring 51. Two washers 50, 55 are supported on flange 41, the former being rotatable by an extension 42 to cam the latter upwards against the 0-ring to thereby lock the knob in an adjusted position. Contact 31 is carried on resilient semicircular yoke 34 connected to a ring 33 which is fixed to the flange 46 and which carries a C-clip contact 53 which engages a slip ring 52 on the sleeve 21. Lead 18 is soldered to ring 52. A transparent top 11 of the knob and the disc 44 carry cooperating vernier scale indicia.</p> |
