A process for producing an olefin polymer characterized by solution-polymerizing at least one monomer selected among ethylene and alpha-olefins at 120 to 300°C in the presence of an olefin polymerization catalyst comprising (A) a crosslinked metallocene compound represented by the following general formula [I] and (B) at least one compound selected among (b-1) an organoaluminumoxy compound, (b- 2) a compound which reacts with the crosslinked metallocene compound (A) to form an ion pair, and (b-3) an organoaluminum compound. The high- temperature solution polymerization method enables a high-molecular polymer to be obtained with high catalytic activity which has not been attained so far. In the case where the polymer to be obtained is a copolymer, the method enables a high-molecular olefin polymer which has a high comonomer unit content, a narrow compositional distribution, and a narrow molecular weight distribution to be obtained.
