A method for retargeting 3-dimensional face animation based on a wire curve and an example expression model is provided to effectively re-use facial expression animation of previously produced characters to produce realistic expression animation of 3-dimensional virtual characters, thereby reducing time required to produce 3-dimensional animation. A method for retargeting 3-dimensional face animation based on a wire curve and an example expression model includes a step of forming a correspondence relation between an original expression mode and an object expression model(S100), a step of respectively defining an original example expression model and an object example expression model for the original expression model and the object expression model(S200), and a step of blending object example expression models by using a weight extracted from the original example expression model to create a new expression(S300).
