An apparatus and a method for piercing a press work are provided to stabilize the placement of a panel during the postprocessing by easily performing formation of a hole and extraction of scrap. In a press forming apparatus in which a blank holder(16) is installed between an upper mold(12) and a lower mold(14) to form a panel(P) by drawing a raw material, an apparatus for piercing a press work comprises: a pierce punch(18) installed in the lower mold to form a hole for placing the panel; a cylinder(20) installed on the upper mold to push downward scrap(S) produced by the pierce punch; and a scrap chute(22) installed between the blank holder and the lower mold to extract the scrap. The apparatus further comprises: a bush(26) installed on a lower part of the upper mold to guide a rod(24) of the cylinder; and a pierce punch holder(28) installed on an upper surface of the lower mold to hold and fix the pierce punch to the lower mold.
