LIGHT GUIDE PANEL AND BACK LIGHT UNIT USING THE SAME

A light guide plate and a backlight unit using the same are provided to emit high-efficiency planar light with an improved polarization ratio by allowing only light with predetermined polarization to be emitted through a polarization recycle unit. An isotropic layer(11) includes an incident surface(11a) receiving light, a transmissive surface(11c) transmitting incident light, and a polarization recycle unit(13) formed at a surface opposite to the transmissive surface and changing a polarization direction of the incident light, and is formed of an isotropic medium having a first refractive index. A first anisotropic layer is formed on the transmissive surface, and includes a transflective surface(17a) formed at a surface opposite to a surface facing the transmissive surface and transmitting a portion of the incident surface and reflecting a remaining portion of the incident light. The first anisotropic layer has a first refractive index the same as the refractive index of the isotropic layer for first polarization light, and a second refractive index different from the first refractive index for second polarization light such that at a boundary with the transmissive surface, the first polarization light is linearly transmitted and the second polarization light is refractively transmitted.
