A circuit board for an ink jet head, an ink jet head having the same, a method for cleaning the head, and an ink jet printing apparatus using the head are provided to stabilize a discharge characteristic by surely removing kogation on a heat application unit. A circuit board for an ink jet head includes a heat unit, and a pair of protection layers(107a,107b). The heat unit is formed by a gap of an electrode wiring layer and a heat resist layer. The protection layers are arranged on an electrode wiring layer and the heat resist layer. At least a heat application unit(108) contacted with ink on a top of the heat unit is included in an area of the top of the protection layers. The top protection layers is arranged to be possible for an electric connection for becoming an electrode to generate an electrochemical reaction with the ink. The top of the protection layer includes a metal melting out by the electrochemical reaction. The top protection layer is made of material without forming an oxidization film to interrupt a melting out by heating.
