Medicaments with antibacterial activity contain a therapeutically active amount of the active ingredient 6-(1-phenyl-cyclopentanecarboxamido)-penicillanic acid (I) ('armecillin') as its alkali salt, opt. in combination with a pharmaceutical carrier. (I) is an acid-and penicillinase-stable antibacterial, and can be used for the treatment of bacterial (e.g. staphylococcal) infections. Pref. formulations are injection solutions contg. an alkali salt of (I) in pharmaceutical solvent (e.g. distilled water) or a physiological soln. The concn. of active substance in such solns. is pref. 25-50 wt. %.
