The present invention provides a compound of formula (I): wherein R₁-R₅, R₂₅, R₂₆, Y and X₂ are as defined herein. The compounds activate human peroxisome proliferator activated receptors (hPPARs) and are useful for the treatment of associated disorders such as cardiovascular disease and hypercholesteremia.
