A portable Internet repeater having an interference noise cancellation function and a method thereof are provided to operate a downlink interference noise cancellation module in a section where downlink is transmitted, and to operate an uplink interference noise cancellation module in a section where uplink is transmitted, according to a synchronous signal(link control signal), thereby more effectively canceling interference noise. A link control signal extractor(403) extracts a link control signal from a relay signal received through an antenna(401). A downlink interference noise canceller(407) operates in a downlink receiving mode according to the extracted link control signal, and cancels interference noise from the relay signal. An uplink interference noise canceller(413) operates in an uplink receiving mode according to the extracted link control signal, and cancels the interference noise from the relay signal.
