<p>#CMT# #/CMT# The device has a central unit (5) storing an encryption key of a set of encryption keys stored in the unit (5) with a firewall device (7). One of the monitoring units (2) e.g. camera, sends one signal to one of the control systems (3) e.g. server, of one of the local units (1a, 1b) placed in a residence to be monitored. Each local unit encodes the signal and sends another signal using the key, to the unit (5) decoding the sent signal. The central unit is connected to the local units placed in residences to be monitored. The unit (5) generates an alert signal during the reception of the signal. #CMT# : #/CMT# An independent claim is also included for a method for monitoring a property. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# Used for video monitoring a property such as a real estate property (claimed) e.g. residence, and a gangway, a road, an office, an enterprise and a depository. #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# The local units utilize the encryption key for encoding the signal, so that a hacker is prevented from accessing the signal sent to the central unit. The set of encryption keys is stored in the central unit, thus permitting each local unit to send the signal encoded by its key. The central unit is connected to the local units placed in the residences to be monitored, thus permitting to utilize reduced number of central unit so as to reduce the cost of the device. The central unit can be connected to 1 to 500 local units in a simple manner. The presence of the firewall device in the central unit improves the safety of the device and adds a safety barrier to the central unit, while preventing a non-authorized third person from neutralizing an alarm system.
