A media file selection method in a media player for a car and a recording medium capable of being read by a computer recording a program for embodying the same are provided to offer convenience to a driver and reduce the risk of a traffic accident by quickly searching a media file on the basis of the number of stored media files and allowing the driver to select a desired media file. A list of media files stored in a storing medium is generated(S110). A basic input unit is set up on the basis of the list(S120). Search information is received near a media file for which a user wishes through the basic input unit(S130). Media file unit search information is received near the desired media file(S140). If the user selects the media file, the selected media file is read and reproduced from the storing medium(S150).
