PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact camera-shake correcting unit having a camera shake correcting mechanism and to provide an imaging apparatus. SOLUTION: The correcting unit includes: a movable optical element that transmits object light and moves within a two-dimensional plane perpendicular to the direction of the subject light, thereby changing the direction of the transmitted object light; a camera shake detecting section that detects a camera shake; a polymeric actuator that connects the movable optical element and a support member disposed apart from the movable optical element and supporting the movable optical element, and has a polymer film that expands or contracts by the application of a voltage, and a plurality of electrodes separately disposed on the surface of the polymer film in contact with the polymer film and used to partially apply a voltage to the polymer film; and a camera shake correcting section that moves the movable optical element within the two-dimensional plane by applying a voltage corresponding to the detection result of the camera-shake detecting section to the plurality of electrodes, thereby correcting the displacement of the object light resulting from the camera shake.
