PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motor spindle for a machine tool having satisfactory maintainability, by installing it inside one end of a spindle housing. SOLUTION: The arrangement includes a process spindle 1 supported by roller bearings 14-16, arranged at a certain spacing in the axial direction inside a spindle housing 25 and electric motors 7 and 27 with stators 27 fixed to a spindle housing 5 while rotors 7 fixed to the process spindle 1, and a tool clamping unit and a clamp unit 2 installed in the processing spindle 1 and operated by a hydraulic cylinder 34 against the force of a spring unit 5, in which the process spindle 1, the rotor 7, and the clamp unit 2, and bearing devices 14-16 are embodied as a modular assembly able to be mounted from ahead, to the spindle housing 25 that carries the stator 27, and a ring cylinder 34 to release the clamp unit 2 and a rotary feed-through are installed inside one end of the spindle housing 25, whereby the simplification of the maintenance work is enhanced.
