<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin light-emitting apparatus having high light extracting efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: The light-emitting apparatus consists of a light-emitting element, and a package molded body for housing the light-emitting element and having a recess portion for placing the light-emitting element on a bottom surface, wherein a light transmissive sealing resin for covering the light-emitting element is filled in the recess portion to form a light-emitting surface consisting of an interface between the sealing resin and air, and a light is extracted from the light-emitting surface. In this apparatus, an active layer is formed near the bottom surface of the light-emitting element, and the light-emitting element has a strong peak on a side surface direction of the light-emitting element in radiation characteristic of the optical strength, and the recess portion has a reflection surface consisting of a gentle slope and a steep slope in the order from the bottom surface. With this configuration, miniaturization of the package can be realized by the two reflection surfaces consisting of the gentle slope and the steep slope, a light mainly radiated from the side surface of the light-emitting element is reflected on the gentle slope, and thus, an incident angle is made smaller than a critical angle with respect to the light-emitting surface and the extracting efficiency of a light can be improved. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
