<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method in which without high pressurizing the atmosphere during the gasification, cracking and reforming of a biomass having a high water content, the biomass having a high water content is efficiently cracked and reformed at a relatively low temperature not only to generate a valuable gas, such as H<SB>2</SB>, CH<SB>4</SB>, CO and CO<SB>2</SB>, but also to recover metal particles having a high added-value as a by-product. <P>SOLUTION: This method comprises: forming a gas and a tar-like substance by thermally-cracking a biomass 11 having a high water content using a valuable gas forming means 16; and contacting the gas and tar-like substance with both a superheated steam 13 heated to 400 to 800°C and a metal supporting carrier 14 to crack and reform the gas and tar-like substance, thereby forming a valuable gas. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
