<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell system capable of effectively utilizing residual hydrogen in an anode without decreasing durability of a fuel cell, and to provide a control method for the fuel cell system. <P>SOLUTION: When ignition is made off, a shut off valve is closed to seal the anode, and operation of an air compressor is continued. Pressure difference Ps between electrodes is calculated by subtracting anode pressure from a cathode pressure, extraction of electric power from the fuel cell is controlled based on the pressure difference Ps between electrodes, or on extraction of electric power is decreased, according to the increase in the difference in pressure Ps between electrodes. When the potential difference Ps between electrodes exceeds a prescribed value, extraction of electric power is stopped. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
