PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the occurrence of uneven exposure, when the conveying direction of an image forming medium is changed, in an image forming apparatus where the conveying direction of the long-sized image forming medium in process of image formation is changed to a prescribed direction. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes a winding mechanism 8 for temporarily winding the paper P, whose length is equal to or exceeding a prescribed length in a storage cavity S arranged on the downstream side of the exposure engine 7. The winding mechanism 8 winds the paper P around a winding drum 20, in a state where the front side of the paper P in the conveying direction is inserted in between the winding drum 20 and a pressure roller 21. The winding operation is also carried out during a period, when scanning exposure for the rear side of the paper P in the conveying direction is carried out by the exposure engine 7. Here, both the winding drum 20 and the pressure roller 21 are positioned at a prescribed non-contact interval. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
