<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To guarantee the satisfactory movement of a bed with minimum posible restriction in a bed system for a patient. <P>SOLUTION: The bed system for patients comprises a bed for a patient, a support column for supporting the bed, and a cart for carrying the bed. The bed has a first connection element 22 disposed on the bed itself selectively connected to a second or third connection element 24 or 26 in the support column or the cart. At least one connection element 24 located on the support column side has at least one sensor disposed on itself to detect the position of the first connection element 22 connected to the bed 18.
