PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid the breakage of a backward travel detecting switch 111 due to bending of a gear shift lever 42, in a work vehicle provided with the backward travel detecting switch 111 switched by the operation of the gear shift lever 42. SOLUTION: A switch operating element 112 is provided at a base portion 42a coupled to a supporting shaft 70 of the gear shift lever 42. When the gear shift lever 42 is operated to a backward traveling position, an acting portion of the switch operating element 112 acts to press on a sensing portion of the backward travel detecting switch 111. When the gear shift lever 42 operated to move from the backward traveling position, the acting portion of the switch operating element 112 releases pressing action to the sensing portion of the backward travel detecting switch 111.
