A time shift recording method in a digital broadcasting receiver of a PVR(Personal Video Recorder) function is provided to variously set a time shift storing space in an HDD(Hard Disk Drive) and maximally use the storing space in the HDD for the time shift function. A microcomputer sets the entire residual storing space in an HDD as a time shift storing space in a general time shift mode according to a time shift viewing request, and performs time shift recording(S202,S204). When a recording request for another image is generated during the time shift recording(S206), the microcomputer sets a certain region, from a position of the HDD used in a time shift in a time when the recording request is generated, as a storing space of the requested image(S208,S210). The microcomputer sets a residual storing space of the HDD from the set certain region as a time shift storing space again(S212). The microcomputer continuously performs the time shift recording again in the residual storing space of the HDD from the certain region(S212).
