PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for improving convenience for a user while efficiently utilizing recording medium capacity of a reproduction destination. SOLUTION: A method for reproducing and recording an information signal is used for reproducing and recording an information signal on a second recording medium, from a first recording medium recording the information signal that allows a state of inserting specific information other than main-part information into a section before or after the main-part information. Additional information regarding a section of the specific information detected from the information signal is recorded on the first recording medium of a reproduction origin, while making it correspond to the information signal. The information signal is recorded on the second recording medium of the reproduction destination while separating the main-part information from the information of a specific scene section by using the additional information. When it is discriminated that the entire information signal can not be dubbed due to small available capacity in the second recording medium during dubbing-recording, only the main-part information other than the specific scene section is subjected to the dubbing-recording under the confirmation permission by the user.
