PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet type display medium which has superior display characteristics and a display element using the display medium by a manufacturing method which is simpler and more inexpensive than a conventional manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method for the display medium which has partition walls and cells partitioned with the partition walls and contains a liquid dispersion medium and electrophoresis particles, dispersed in the dispersion medium, in the cells includes a coating liquid manufacturing stage of mixing and dispersing at least the dispersion medium, electrophoresis particles, and resin to be cured with light, heat, or radiation rays, a coating film manufacturing stage of coating a base material with coating liquid in a film state, and a curing stage of curing the coating film by irradiating the coating film with light or radiation rays or heating the coating film. Further, the display medium has the partition walls and the cells partitioned with the partition walls and contains at least the liquid dispersion medium and the electrophoresis particles dispersed in the dispersion medium in the cells and the partition walls are made of cured bodies of the resin which is cured with light, heat, or radiation rays.
