PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester for a toner, excellent in low temperature fixing property, preservation property and offset resistance, and reducing the generation of smell, and the toner containing the polyester. SOLUTION: This polyester having 120-165°C softening point for the toner is obtained by performing the condensation polymerization of an alcoholic component containing≥65 mol% 1,2-propane diol based on di-hydric alcoholic components with a carboxylic acid component containing a purified rosin.
