PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively prevent an eccentric rotor from being upset, in a rotary compressor in which either of cylinders or pistons are eccentrically rotated as the eccentric rotor. SOLUTION: The columnar pistons 61 of a pressing mechanism 60 are installed on the rear surface of the movable side end plate 41 of a compression mechanism 30. The columnar pistons 61 act an axial pressing force pressing the movable side end plate 41 against a fixed side end plate 33 on the rear surface of the movable side end plate (41). Consequently, the upset moment acting on the movable side end plate (41) due to a gas pressure in the compression mechanism 30 is effectively canceled by the pressing force of the pressing mechanism 60.
